Dachia- writer, speaker, storytellerWe often hear how we need to have a dream and go after it and never give up. Sounds romantic, but it is not that simple. In one way, it is not easy to just keep going and not give up. But what I want to share today is the idea that many of us are chasing the wrong dream. The dreams and goals we had when we were kids or young adults or even last Tuesday might not resonate with us anymore. Sometimes we gain experiences that allow us to really think through our previous ideas of purpose and realize they are not line with who we are now. There was nothing wrong with that previous dream or goal, but we are on a different, and probably clearer pat

This has happened to me more than once. I started out with the goal of acting. And while I still love it and that joy has never wavered, as I progressed through life, I saw something bigger. And when I got closer to that new goal, I saw something even bigger. I think we all have this experiences or these experiences, as I don’t think it is just one change in life, but I think so many of us don’t want to see it. It’s like they look at a change in direction as a failure. Like they are giving up and quitting, and we have had it drilled into our heads since childhood that quitters never win.
But this is just a matter of perspective. It is our perception. It is not real. It is our responsibility to recognize when we feel that our lives are out of alignment with goals, or our purpose. We can feel something missing. We may try a few things to feel better and some of them work and some of them don’t. We can just let those failures go and try something else.

I have never felt more clear and more comfortable in my pursuits than I have in the last few years. It just gets more and more clear. I look back at paths I tried and ideas that I clung to for far too long, and just breathe a sigh of relief that I got here where I am. If I had a do-over, I would skip over a lot of that old stuff and start on this path sooner. I envision just how much more I could accomplish in this lifetime if I had my head straight earlier. But, we come to our path in the right time. The universe sets us a path aligned with our energy. As our energy changes, so does our path.

I think I have spent most of my life writing or on stage… or trying to get there.I love entertaining, but I really love affecting people and inspiring change. I have found that a different perspective of a problem often leads directly to an obvious and viable solution. And the ability to see something differently is a gift I would love to share
